James L. Taylor established the James L. Taylor Manufacturing Company in 1911 to produce his patented quick-adjusting, self-locking bar clamp. This patented clamp was a significant step forward in the edge gluing of lumber. In the 1920's, the Taylor revolving Clamp Carrier was developed and patented. It was a major first step toward mass production. Today, Taylor produces a full range of edge gluing machines and accessories in their 45,000’ factory in Poughkeepsie, NY. They have been at this facility since 1911. However, they continue to update their manufacturing with CNC machining and welding technology. Their balanced team of seasoned professionals and young engineers will continue to develop new technology to increase efficiency, reliability, and product quality.

• The Classic Clamp Carrier is our most versatile wood working clamps model. Sizes range from 20 to 80 sections with widths up to 16-1/2' (5M) wide. Most machines are equipped with Pneumatic Air Motor Drive for rotation, Clamp Tightener and Panel Flattener. The smaller machines work well with the Plate Spreader (manual glue applicator). As with all Taylor Clamp Carriers, smaller machines can be expanded as production requirements grow. The Classic Clamp Carrier is an ideal clamping system when a wide variety of products are to be glued. •
Production
Production is based on cycle time and panel size. Assuming that each section is curing 3 panels whose dimensions are 24" x 24" (60cm x 60cm) and assuming a cycle time of 2 minutes, production per shift equals:
One Panel:
=4 ft² (.36M²),
One Section:
=12 ft² (1.1M²),
One Cycle:
=2 minutes which
=30 cycles/hour which
=210 cycles/shift,
Production output:

The Automated Clamp Carrier woodworking clamps system is the industry standard for high production edge gluing. Sizes range from 20 to 80 sections with widths up to 16-1/2’ (5 M) wide. The Automated machine doubles operator productivity with its automatic cycle which tightens the clamps on new stock, rotates the machine, and loosens the clamps on panels to be removed. This allows the wood clamp operator to spend 100% of their time preparing and loading stock. It also reduces operator effort and paces the overall production. As with all Taylor Clamp Carriers, smaller machines can be expanded as production requirements grow. •

The Dual Automated Clamp Carrier is the world’s highest production room temperature edge gluing machine. Loosening of the wood clamps, loading of the wood stock and tightening of the wood clamps all take place simultaneously. On the Automated Clamp Carrier, the clamp operator(s) wait for the Carrier to finish tightening, indexing to the next section. On the Dual Automated Clamp Carrier, as soon as the operator(s) finish loading the Carrier, they only needs to wait a few short seconds for the Carrier to index before beginning to unload the cured wood panels. The wood clamp loosener on the section above the operator loosens the woodworking clamps and the Clamp Tightener/Panel Flattener below the operator flattens the panels and tightens the clamps all while the operator simply unloads and reloads the Carrier. The Side Loading Automated Clamp Carrier is the latest addition to our Automated Clamp Carrier line of industrial clamps. The system includes all the productivity and design features of our Automated Clamp Carrier. However, it is equipped with a side loading infeed table and application system. This industrial clamping design is especially effective when edge gluing or laminating long material. Productivity levels are higher than the standard Automated Clamp Carrier because panels are being laid up on the infeed table at the same time that the previous panel is being tightened and flattened. In addition, large panels are pushed out of the machine onto a table or conveyor. This eliminates heavy lifting •
